"kommais" (Kommunales ArchivInformationsSystem) is a protoype implemented for a master thesis in Digital Humanities by Maximilian Vitzthum at the FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg (April-September 2021).
It's based on "WissKI", a scientific communication infrastructure which enables scientific projects in memory institutions (museums, archives, libraries) to collect, store, manage and communicate knowledge through the usage of semantic web technology.
The goal of "kommais" was to investigate the possibilities in modelling a sufficient Archival Information System for the needs of Municipal Archives through a combination of "WissKI" and the OWL 2 ontology "RiC-O" (v0.2), developed by the International Council on Archives (ICA). To detect the needs of Municipal Archives, a cooperation with the City Archive of Erlangen was mantained.
The respective modelling decisions have been published and can be downloaded.
